APRIL 12, 1990 THE DURHAM SUN PAGE Deaths Funerals Durham DR. P.B. STAM Dr. Paul Bowman Stam, 66, of O'Kelly Chapel Road, Route 3, Box 218, Durham, died yesterday in Wesley Long Community Hospital in Greensboro. Funeral services will be held at Saturday in Chapel Hill Bible Church.

He was federal program coordinator for the N.C. Department of Environment, Health and Natural Resources. He was formerly vice president for research and development for Burlington Industries and J.P. Stevens. A native of Patterson, N.J., he was a graduate of Wheaton College in Wheaton, Ill.

He earned a Ph.D. in chemistry from Princeton University and a law degree from the University, of North Carolina at He was a lieutenant in the Navy during World War II. He was awarded the Purple Heart. He was a member of Chapel Hill Bible Church, the Christian Legal Society and the American Scientific Affiliation. Surviving are his wife, Mrs.

Jane Levering Stam; a daughter, Miss Karen Stam of Salt Lake City, Utah; three sons, Paul B. Stam Jr. of Apex, Carl Levering Stam of South Bend, and William W. Stam of Raleigh; two sisters, Mrs. Ruth Stevens of San Jose, Costa Rica, and Ms.

Mary Stam of Colorado Springs, four brothers, Dr. John Stam of San Jose, Costa Rica, Dr. David Stam Syracuse, N.Y., Dr. James Stam of East Orange, N.J., and Dr. Robert Stam of New York City; and six grandchildren.
