The flaws in your character aren’t going to be as much of an issue if you can acknowledge that you have a problem, and are working on them.

For example: A woman with an online shopping addiction.

If she isn’t aware of her problem, or actively denies that she is addicted to online shopping, that’s a BIG problem.

However, if she acknowledges that this is something she struggles with, and actively tries to fix her problem (counseling, limiting her time online, restricting access to her credit cards etc.), even if it’s still a problem, it’s not as much of a problem.

There’s a saying that admitting you have a problem is winning half the battle. Self awareness is where you can begin to grow.

A character flaw is less concerning if the person with the flaw knows about it and is working on fixing the flaw in his or her character. Even if it’s something they haven’t overcome yet.
