It’s time to grab your Pokedex as we check out all the Pokemon games in order!

That’s right, all the Pokemon games. And trust me, there’s a lot of them!

From the very first titles that introduced us to the Kanto region to spin-offs that went on to span multiple consoles, here’s every Pokemon game that has ever lived.

We’re talking PC games, downloadable apps, and of course, all the titles that appeared on Nintendo’s classic handhelds and consoles over the years.

So, what are you waiting for; it’s time to remortgage the house so that you can have the cash to catch them all!

1. Pokemon Red & Blue (1996)

Where it all began: Pokemon Red & Blue. These first Pokemon games for the DMG kickstarted a franchise that has become a global phenomenon!

2. Pocket Monsters Green (1996)

In Japan, Pocket Monsters Green dropped alongside Pocket Monsters Red. Pocket monsters Green is incorporated into Pokemon Red and Blue

3. Pokemon Yellow (1998)

A special Pikachu version of the original Pokemon Game. Pokemon Yellow feels more like the anime series, with Pikachu being the only starter Pokemon and one that follows you around through the gameplay.

4. Pocket Monsters Stadium (Japan) (1998)

Japanese release of Pokemon Stadium on the N64.

5. Pokemon Trading Card Game (1998)

The popular trading card game ported to the GBC. Collect cards, battle other players, and use all of the elemental cards to power up your Pokemon!

6. Hey You, Pikachu! (1998)

The first Pokemon adventure game on the N64. Speak to Pika using the VRU peripheral, play minigames, and build a bond stronger than Ash Ketchum could ever dream of!

7. Pokemon Gold & Silver (1999)

If Red & Blue kickstarted the party, then Gold and Silver perfected the formula.

Take advantage of new features such as Pokegear and a Pokedex with better organisational features, catch new legendaries, and bag a whole new set of Pokemon that could slam Blastoise into the dust!

8. Pokemon Stadium (1999)

Western release of Pocket Monsters Stadium. Battle Pokemon in the arena, pulling off all your favourite moves from Sand Attack to Psybeam.

Pull characters from Red & Blue into the mix using the Transfer PAK, play minigames, and take on the Elite Four up on your TV!

9. Pokémon Play It! (1999)

Toned down version of the Pokemon TGC for the GBC. This is essentially a tutorial on how to play the card game, with simple matches to play on the PC.

10. Pokemon Pinball (1999)

How do you make Pinball even better? How about slapping Pikachu on it?

Catch 150 Pokemon and evolve them by hitting targets on a pinball board. Cool, right?

11. Pokémon Snap (1999)

Why catch Pokemon when you can snap them instead?

Travel through different levels as you watch Pokemon from the original Red & Blue games in their nature habitats. Capture specific images and keep replaying until you’ve snapped them all!

12. Pokemon Crystal (2000)

With new characters and Suicine playing a much bigger role, Pokemon Crystal provides some extra features to the Gold & Silver games.

Essentially, it’s the same kind of deal as Yellow was to Red & Blue. The storyline is basically the same, though players can choose from a male or female character.

13. Pocket Monsters Stadium Gold & Silver (2000)

Japanese release of Pokemon Stadium 2.

14. Pokemon Stadium 2 (2000)

Where as the original Pokemon Stadium only allowed for play with Red & Blue, the sequel allows gamers to bring Pokemon from all 5 handheld games released before Pokemon Crystal – that’s Red, Blue, Yellow, Gold, & Silver.

15. Pokémon Play It! Version 2 (2000)

Version 2 is essentially the same as Version 1 with new cards added… so if yu’re a TGC fan, that’s pretty much like a whole new game!

Players can now add cards from the Fossil and Team Rocket expansion sets into their decks to compete against the AI.

16. Pokemon Puzzle League (2000)

The N64 had some cracking Pokemon games, including Pokemon Puzzle League.

Ok, so it’s basically Pokemon Tetris, but is that a bad thing? Fans of Dr Mario should definitely check this one out!

17. Pokémon Puzzle Challenge (2000)

Handheld version of Puzzle League for the GBC. Challenge gym leaders and go head-to-head with your mates using a link cable.

18. Pokémon Card GB2: GR-dan Sanjou! (2001)

If you loved the original TGC game for the GBC, then the sequel will knock your socks off.

Yeah, they made a sequel!!

With a new main character, a bigger game world, and sets of cards from the originals right through to Team Rocket and the Fossil set, there’s plenty for fans to sink their teeth into.

19. Pokemon Ruby & Sapphire (2002)

Ruby & Sapphire were the maiden Pokemon games on the GBA. With over 350 Pokemon to catch and a new Pokedex to store them in, things are about to heat up very quickly!

20. Pokemon Box: Ruby and Sapphire (2003)

If you need a place to store Pokemon from your GBA adventures onto one memory card them the Pokemon Box will be right up your street.

Store up to 1500 Pokemon that you’ve collected from Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, LeafGreen, and FireRed.

21. Pokémon Pinball: Ruby & Sapphire (2003)

Pokemon Pinball with a Ruby & sapphire twist. New challenges, new courses, new Pokemon!

22. Pokemon Colosseum (2003)

The sequel to the incredible Pokemon Stadium, Colosseum brings 3D versions of your favourite pocket monsters from Ruby & Sapphire into the mix. There’s also a full stand-alone adventure mode too which is seriously worth a punt.

23. Pokémon Channel (2003)

I bet you didn’t think there would be a game where you and Pika test a Pokemon TV Channel while listing all the Pokemon games in order. Compete in Pokelicious competitions and find a lost episode of Pichu’s TV show.

24. Pokemon FireRed & LeafGreen (2004)

Updated versions of the original Japanese Kanto missions; Pocket Monsters Red and Pocket Monsters Green, boasting new artwork and the ability to use a wireless adapter instead of a link cable.

25. Pokemon Emerald (2004)

Enter the world of Hoenn in an advanced version of Ruby & Sapphire. Like Yellow and Crystal, Emerald uses one Pokemon in particular as a primary character, and this time it’s Rayquaza.

26. Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness (2005)

Team up with Eevee to rescue Shadow Pokemon. Players take a reformed member of a gang on a mission to free Pokemon through turn-based battles. This is one of the best 3D story-based Pokemon games going, period!

27. Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Blue Rescue Team and Red Rescue Team (2005)

Ever wondered what would happen if you took control of Pokemon rather than their trainers? The mystery dungeon series sees a human turned into a Pokemon, the actual character chosen by posing the players a series of questions. Rescue Pokemon ad solve mysteries!

28. Pokémon Trozei! (2005)

Columns, but with Pokemon faces. Match up lines of Pokemon to rack up combos and clear the screen!

29. Pokemon Diamond & Pearl (2006)

The first main-series Poke-ventures for the Nintendo DS. Often referred to as the quintessential pocket monsters games on the DS, these two titles brought 107 new Pokemon to the table and premiered WiFi battles!

30. Pokemon Battle Revolution (2006)

The Wii offering of the Pokemon Stadium series, giving players 493 Pokemon to choose from. Battle your way to the top to become the ultimate champion or take on your friends to see who is the best!

31. Pokemon Ranger (2006)

Use the touch pad to capture panicked Pokemon using a circle motion. Battle bad guys and rack up 200 Pokemon to complete challenges in over ten missions.

32. Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time and Explorers of Darkness (2007)

More Pokemon-lead adventures featuring 493 Pokemon from the Diamond and Pearl versions.

If I had to choose my favourite Mystery Dungeon titles from all the Pokemon games in order, I’d pick these ones every time.

33. Pokémon Battrio (2007)

Battle-based Pokemon Arcade Game similar to the Wii game Pokemon Battle Revolution.

34. Pokemon Platinum (2008)

You’re starting to get the hang of what happens with Pokemon games now. The Pokemon Company release two games, then do an enhanced version with new features. In the case of Diamond & Pearl, Platinum was the souped-up version of the story.

Giratina makes for a pretty scary cover Pokemon too!

35. My Pokémon Ranch (2008)

Remember the Chao Garden in Sonic Adventure 2 Battle? Well, My Pokemon Ranch is a little like that.

Send your caught monsters from Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum to the Ranch and get a new Pokemon every day you log onto the game. Watch the ranch get bigger with the more Pokemon you transfer.

36. Pokémon Ranger: Shadows of Almia (2008)

37. Pokemon HeartGold & SoulSilver (2009)

The joint winners of our best Pokemon games of all time, HeartGold & SoulSilver are the ultimate versions of the Johto adventures. With Dual-Screen treatment, polished graphics, and smoother game mechanics, these two games are my go-to DS game titles every time!

38. Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Keep Going! Blazing Adventure Squad!, Let’s Go! Stormy Adventure Squad!, and Go For It! Light Adventure Squad! (2009)

Three exciting Wii-Ware Mystery Dungeon games for you to sink your teeth into. Three versions based on the three elemental Pokemon starters, each of which cost 1200 points on the WiiWare store. Plus, Arceus makes an appearance in them!

39. Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky (2009)

Back to a Mystery Dungeon game available on the DS… there sure are a lot of these in this Pokemon games in order article!

Step into Treasure Town and find out who is stealing Time Gears. Join a team of excitable monsters and discover how you turned form a human into a Pokemon!

40. Pokemon Rumble (2009)

Say goodbye to the traditional turn-based fighting that you know from the series. Pokemon Rumble sees players controlling a toy Pokemon and fighting other critters in real time.

41. PokePark Wii: Pikachu’s Adventure (2009)

Enter a theme park controlled entirely by Pokemon… which sounds chaotic at best! Play with other Pokemon, complete challenges, and generally have a jolly good time.

42. Pokemon Black & White (2010)

The first DS titles to reach 5-million sales. Leave it to Pokemon to knock those sales figures out the park.

With 150 new characters to capture and triple battles making an appearance, Black & White really are exciting titles!

43. Pokémon Ranger: Guardian Signs (2010)

Fight against the Pokemon pinchers… not the most scary name for a group, is it? Get that stylus action nailed down and get drawing those circles!

44. Pokémon Card Game: How To Play DS (2011)

A digital rulebook and how-to-guide for the TGC.

45. Pokémon Rumble Blast (2011)

Take toy Pokemon around once more in this sequel to the popular wiiWare Pokemon Rumble game. Travel between towns and find out who has been stealing Glowdrops.

46. PokéPark 2: Wonders Beyond (2011)

Pikachu and Piplup go to a theme park and discover that it has imprisoned tonnes of their friends.

There are still attractions to mess around on, but the main feature is freeing your friends from captivity.

47. Pokemon Black 2 & White 2 (2012)

Head back to Unova two years after the original games.

Go up against 277 Pokemon in a brand new, albeit unoriginally titled adventure.

48. Pokemon Conquest (2012)

A crossover title seeing characters from the world of Pokemon mixing with the Nobunaga’s Ambition range of games.

Battle or team up with warlords and their Pokemon.

49. Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity (2012)

A 3D Mystery Dungeon game and the first where players can choose which Pokemon they play as.

Play through unlimited Mystery Dungeons and team up with your fellow critters to solve their secrets.

50. Pokémon Tretta (2012)

Arcade game sequel to Battrio concentrating on 3-v-3 Pokemon battles.

51. Pokemon X & Y (2013)

X & Y were the first ever 3D rendered games and started the idea of customising what the player looks like, adding a new dimension to the games and a feature that would waste so much of my time while playing Sword & Shield.

Expect Fairy Pokemon, sky battles, and Mega Evolutions!

52. Pokémon Rumble U (2013)

Play as Toy Pokemon trying to find and fight their way back to their beloved toy shop. Team up with three mates to battle rogue toy Pokemon in Toy Story-esque antics.

53. Pokémon Tretta Lab (2013)

Scanner used to catalogue Tretta pucks for the Pokemon Tretta arcade game.

54.Pokemon Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire (2014)

Enhanced versions of Pokemon Ruby & Sapphire with the added bonus of 3D gameplay.

55. Pokémon Battle Trozei (2014)

More dual-screen Trozei actin with the ability to go 3D!

56. Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon (2015)

Enrol in a local school in Serene village and discover what is turning Pokemon to stone. Recruit members from previous Mystery Dungeon games, and head out to solve problems together.

57. Pokémon Rumble World (2015)

Battle and collect Pokemon toys once more. This time, there are 700 of the little blighters to contend with… talk about having your hands full!

58. Pokémon Shuffle (2015)

Essentially a mobile version of Pokemon Trozei. Line up Pokemon in different levels in this handy mobile app, the main cause of me missing my bus stop back in 2015.

59. Pokemon Picross (2015)

Capture Pokemon by completing Picross Puzzles. There are 600 to complete, so you better get cracking!

60. Pokkén Tournament (2015)

Ever wished that Street Fighter & Pokemon Stadium could be combined? Well, Pokken Tournament is the answer.

Go head to head with Pokemon in this real-time fighting title, side-on brawler action at its finest.

61. Pokemon Sun & Moon (2016)

The formula has changed slightly from the days of Black & White on the DS. Compete in trials in order to discover more about your Pokemon. Improve skills and delve into the wider Pokemon world.

62. Pokemon Ga-Olé (2016)

2-v-2 Pokemon battles on an arcade machine boasting a humongous screen.

I think seeing Pika that big up close would make my eyes melt.

63. Pokemon Go (2016)

Pokemon Go needs no introduction, the game that took us all out of the house and running around the streets chasing Vaporeons and battling gym leaders outside the local pub.

I once caught a Haunter in a church in Florence… probably not what I should have been doing, but it was a pretty high level so don’t judge me too much.

64. Pokemon Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon (2017)

Step back into the Alola region and grab never before seen Pokemon, discovering the secrets surrounding two new forms of Necrozma.

3D Pokemon action and a whole new set of battles to encounter. Jump back into the action and bump up that Pokedex!

65. Pokkén Tournament DX (2017)

More Pokemon duelling action, this time on the Nintendo Switch. Pick from one of 20 pocket monsters either on a plane, on a train, or at home between cleaning the drain (you can’t beat a good rhyme).

With new Pokemon to battle with such as Scizor and Darkrai and endless tournaments between you and your friends on the horizon, there’s so much exciting Poke action that you’ll never get bored. You can take the battle online too!

66. Pokemon Duel (2017)

Good old-fashioned board game fun based on the figure trading game, all on Apple or Android smart devices.

Move Pokemon figures across exciting spaces, earn cash to buy new ones, and uncover secret plots.

If only Cluedo was this exciting!

67. Pokemon Let’s Go, Pikachu! & Let’s Go, Eevee! (2018)

Let’s go Pikachu and Let’s Go Eevee are two new versions of the original Kanto adventure, with real-sized Pokemon wandering around for you to catch, and all the locations you know and love enhanced for you to enjoy anew.

Link with Pokemon Go and use the Pokeball controller to catch your favourite critters like a pro. These two games were more than just a stopgap to Sword and Shield; they were a work of art!

68. Pokemon Quest (2018)

The main aim of Pokemon Quest is to attract Pokemon to your camping area and cook them nice meals.

Make their favourite dishes using ingredients you’ve picked up while heading out on expeditions, and fight wild Pokemon as you travel around!

It’s all a little Minecraft-esque, which is great if you like blocky worlds and Pikachu’s that look like electrical plugs!

69. Pokemon Sword & Shield (2019)

A brand new Switch adventure with two new legendary beasts to chose between: Zacian and Zamazenta.

This game would be great if it wasn’t for that annoying Hop sidekick character winding you up all the time… man that guy grinds my gears!

70. Pokémon Trading Card Game Card Dex (2019)

Scan your existing collection into a digital Pokedex and keep tabs of everything in this handy, easy-to-use app.

Because everyone needs a Pokedex to sift through during morning work meetings, am i right?

71. Pokemon Masters Ex (2019)

A brand new story featuring Pokemon trainers from the past.

Pokemon Masters EX sees players both teaming up with and going up against trainers from yesteryear, building the ultimate 3v3 teams and going for glory in the arena!

72. Pokemon Home (2019)

This is another admin-style app, allowing players to trade and store Pokemon from Core Pokemon games on the switch, DS, and Pokemon Go from one central hub.

73. Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX (2020)

Updated version of the rescue team DX games from yesteryear, bringing new visuals and all the incredible action and feels that the original stories provided.

Wake up as a Pokemon, make a rescue team to save other critters, and work out what the heck is going on in your life.

74. Pokémon Café Mix (2020)

Create food and drink for hungry Pokemon by completing fun and zany challenges and puzzles.

It’s a laugh to play, but can you imagine how hectic this would be in real life?!

75. Pokémon Mezastar (2020)

Sequel machine in the same series as Battrio and Tretta with more battles, this time with users standing side-by-side and sharing a screen.

Use tag peripherals to summon different monsters and get new ones when capturing monsters in game.

76. Pokemon Smile (2020)

A game designed to get kids to brush their teeth. Brush to save Pokemon who have been attacked by bad bacteria.

Catch Pokemon and prevent cavities… they really will put Pikachu on anything, won’t they!

77. Pokemon Unite (2021)

We’ve had 1v1 and 3v3 battles, but get ready for the first ever 5v5 Pokemon battle game!

Make your team and work strategically to defeat your opponents as you move over Aeos Island. Level up, evolve, and work together with your team to win Unite battles!

78. Pokemon BrilliantDiamond & ShiningPearl (2021)

Just as Let’s Go Eevee and Pikachu were updated versions of the original Kanto Adventures, Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl are Switch versions of the best selling DS games, Pokemon Diamond and Pearl.

Pick from Turtwig, Chimchar, and Peplum once more as you battle through the Sinnoh region to become the champ!

79. New Pokémon Snap (2021)

The world went mad for New Pokemon Snap when it dropped in 2021, 22 years after the original title came out on the N64.

Take pics of your favourite Pokemon in their natural habitats once more, this time with new characters from all the past Pokemon games including Sword & Shield joining the bill and in handheld mode too!

80. Pokemon Legends: Arceus (2022)

The first open-world Pokemon game with Breath of the Wild-style vibes. Move across the Hisui region in a time before we knew anything about Pokemon.

Collect materials to make Pokeballs, capture pocket monsters as they roam freely through the land, and enter your details into the very first paper Pokedex

81. Pokemon Scarlet & Violet (2022)

And that brings us neatly to the new trailer for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, the two newest titles to be announced in the Pokemon canon.
