Trains, Cranes and Marbella Property
I had, until today, almost forgotten the noise and dirt of the hundreds of cement trucks trundling up and down the N340, carving a path to the hundreds of new developments in a seemingly never ending convoy!
Whilst it is unlikely I will ever again look out of my window to a skyline of Cranes and concrete skeletons, driving through San Pedro this morning was a real blast from the past!
The whole place was a hub of activity with trucks loading and unloading construction materials, cement trucks heading off towards the main road, cars double parked, new businesses open and workers actually working!
Is this another sign of a recovery in the Marbella property market?
SIGNS OF RECOVERY
In Marbella increased activity in construction was highlighted last year by Pablo Moro the town Planning Counselor. He reported that in 2013 work had started on over 80% of projects for which licenses had previously been granted with a further 123 licenses granted for new houses.
Moro sees this as strong sign of recovery coupled with constant requests at the town planning office from investors who are interested in land for schools, hospitals, shopping centers and housing.
Taylor Wimpey´s new development on San Pedro beach has completely sold out during construction and in the stunning contemporary development la Reserva de Sierra Blanca all but two units have been sold.
Banco Santander also announced that 2014 would see them return to the construction industry, resuming building work on 5,000 residential homes across Spain.
A NEW BILINGUAL SCHOOL FOR ESTEPONA
Two new schools are currently under construction now one of which is the Costa del Sols first fully Bilingual school Colegio Atalaya. Opening from September 2014 Colegio Atalaya will offer places to children from nursery to university entrance studies and all students will take classes in both Spanish English and learn a third language.
There will be a strong focus on sports and the school is offering football, swimming, judo, volley ball, basket ball within school hours as well as an after school program including horse riding, sailing, golf, ballet and piano lessons.
Mayfair International College are also about to begin construction on a brand new state of the art international school near Marbella.
Responding to the ever increasing demand for additional and well needed school places for international students based in and around the Marbella area, Mayfair International Academy have over the last year or so been working very closely with the town hall of Estepona based in the province of Malaga, Spain.
The new state of the art International school close to Marbella is being built on the borders of Marbella and Estepona in the very well established and increasingly popular residential area of Diana which is very close to Diana Park, where the well known and sought after el Campanario golf resort is situated.
This area has in recent years become one of the most popular urbanizations and is now heavily populated with many Russian, Scandinavian, English, French and German families.
The area is also within easy reach of el Paraiso, Atalaya, Benahavis, San Pedro de Alcantara, Puerto Banus, Marbella and Estepona to name but a few.
